NCWAY Rookie State Championship Tournament FAQs

Why a Rookie state tournament? It is our goal that in hosting a rookie state wrestling tournament we may be able to encourage more wrestlers to become excited and involved with our sport.  By exposing wrestlers of similar experience we feel that they will not feel as overwhelmed and overmatched as they often do when they first get started in this great sport. By providing a level playing field from the start, it not only provides a safe arena for competition but also allows the wrestlers to gain confidence in their skills.

Can a wrestler compete in more than one bracket? Yes, wrestlers are allowed to compete in 2 brackets / 2 weight classes but not in the same division. Wrestlers must move up an age group if they choose to wrestle in 2 brackets. Contact the tournament director to register in the second division.

Are singlets or headgear required? No, singlets or headgear is not required. Athletic shorts and a t-shirt will work.
