Creating Opportunity – The NCWAY Grassroots Development Grant was created to provide financial assistance to eligible NCWAY member clubs, and first year Middle and High School programs to support their efforts to:

  • Introduce wrestling to those who are not involved with the sport; 
  • To advance wrestling skills for those who are relatively new to the sport; 
  • To assist the club with equipment and uniform needs; 
  • To assist the club with providing national competition opportunities to its wrestlers. 

 

Application Deadline –  December 31, 2023 - This includes all required items to be uploaded in application.

Grant Eligibility - Wrestling Clubs who wish to apply for and receive Grassroots Development Grant Funding must: 

  • Be a fully registered club member of NCWAY by December 31st of the current season. 
  • Have a minimum of 10 athletes registered with NCWAY by December 31st.

*Middle School and High School Programs who wish to apply for and receive Grassroots Development Grant Funding must: 

  • Be a first or 2nd year wrestling program. 

APPLICATION PROCEDURES

Member clubs and School teams must submit a Grassroots Development Grant application to NCWAY by December 31st annually. Late or incomplete applications will only be considered for support if unassigned funding dollars remain at the time the application is received. 

ELIGIBLE EXPENDITURES - The following expenditures are eligible for support: 

  • Athlete and coach travel expenses to in-state or out of state competitions, clinics or training camps 
  • Hosting expenses for tournaments, clinics or training camps 
  • Facility rental (training facilities) 
  • Equipment and uniforms 

INELIGIBLE EXPENDITURES - The following expenditures are NOT eligible for support: 

  • Capital expenditures – no support is available for construction, renovations, or upgrading facilities
  • Cash prizes 
  • Social events (barbecues, banquets, lunches, etc.) 
  • Membership fees to NCWAY 
  • Debt repayment 
  • Other expenses that NCWAY may deem inappropriate
